Hey Friends!

It's officially spring and I couldn't be happier about longer sunny days minus all the pollen and the allergies that comes with it. But it's apart of life so we get through it. With that being sad pretty weather ignites my self-care ten times more than in the colder months. Am I the only one? Of course I'm not.

I am blessed with several groups of friends and even more associates. Over the past year I have been intentional about not putting my happiness in anyone else's hand. If I want to do something I am going to do it. That doesn't mean I wont extend invitations but I will not cancel because no one is available or interested in what I want to explore for the day or weekend. You miss out on making memories and experiences when you cancel on yourself. With that being said I want to share a few Self Dates you can enjoy this Spring and Summer.

TRAVEL

Fly me out and or roadtrip me please!!! This is my absolute favorite form of self care. It's something about a change of scenery that does my heart, mind and body good. Take a drive to another city and be a tourist for the day. One of my favorite travel destinations is the beach. Currently residing in the heart of Raleigh, NC but the beach is just a 2 hour drive away. You literally drive straight and will run into the beautiful sea. Transparent moment: I love the beach but hate the sand aftermath -__-

EXPLORE YOUR OWN CITY

I am sure you have heard of "Staycations". It's a real thing and cool to do if you can afford it. Personally I pay enough bills at my residence to stay right there lol. However I will become a tourist in my own city. Google search tourist activities and attractions to explore. Tours, Museums, Local parks, Seasonal festivals, etc is usually within reach.

MAKE A VISION BOARD

This usually popular in the beginning of the year but it's beneficial anytime of year. Grab some old magazines, newspapers or print pictures from the web. Write the vision and make it plain...AMEN! This is a creative way to spend quality time with yourself and help you map out a plan to actually achieve all the vision you have for yourself. Digital vision boards or collages are just as effective. The Canva app/website is my bestie when it comes to that.

GET CREATIVE

Start a DIY project, buy a coloring book or a Canvas and paint to express yourself artistically. I am not artsy outside of music and performance but it's nice to give things a try. You just might discover a hidden talent. Coloring is so therapeutic for me. It's also sentimental. My Dad and I would color often. I still have a picture of the last thing he colored for me. He was so adamant about me taking it with me. I knew I'd lose it so I took a picture and I am so glad I did.

GO OUT FOR COFFEE OR A DRINK

There is more to beverages than "Starbies" (Starbucks). Patronage a coffee shop or local bar. Try a new drink. Leave a review too. Support and help your local businesses.

MAKE A FANCY HOMEMADE DINNER

I can cook but I'm not "Big Mama" although I have the arms to make you think otherwise lol. I watch Tik Tok and Instagram cooking videos often. A great solo date idea is to make one of the dishes or several to complete a full meal. Make it as fancy or as down home as you desire. You can even recreate your favorite food from your favorite restaurant. I have Olive Gardens Chicken gnocchi soup saved and ready to recreate soon...

VOLUNTEER

A win-win situation, You get to do something alone and help others in the process. You have the opportunity to make a difference and simply put a smile on someones face. Research local shelters or non-profit agencies for volunteer opportunities. Most of those places can not fully succeed without great volunteers. Sign up today!

GO SHOPPING

This is a no brainer...my favorite pass time. "Women be shopping, women be shopping!" -Reggie lol

GO TO THE PARK

Pack a snack, your favorite book or load up your bike for a stroll around the park. A solo picnic is a vibe too.

TAKE A CLASS

Pick something you'd like to learn. Some class ideas are sewing, cooking, pottery, painting and even a Mixology class. Check out www.onmywaybartending.com You won't be disappointed!!! #Cheers

SPA DATE

This can be at home, your local massage parlor or nail salon. Relaxation at its finest. A good foot massage will change your life!

THEATER OR MOVIES

If you are worried about being seen alone these are darker places where it's not as noticeable.

BREAKFAST, LUNCH, OR DINNER

Just do it. I use to hate going anywhere alone but it doesn't bother me as much anymore. Enjoy your favorite meal and or dessert.

I hope these ideas has been helpful to you. I will most definitely be implementing many of these dates if not all of them. This is beneficial for everyone but especially SINGLE adults. By exploring alone you will learn what you like to share with your potential significant other.

Live your best life on purpose. As always I am rooting for you!

Much love,

Alicia V.
