Hey Friends!
Like many people in this beautiful world I love a good bargain especially for clothes. Cheap doesn't always mean bad quality especially if you know how to pick and piece items together. That's real fashion if you ask me. Growing up I would often remake or reinvent clothes from what I had. My favorite project I can remember making is capris out of jeans and bleaching them like Lil Kim & others in her "No matter what they say" music video. You couldn't tell me nothing with my matching white tee and fresh air force ones, LOL.
As I got older I always had a love for vintage clothes. I would frequent my Grandma closet to see if I can dress up some of her old pieces. Whether it was a brooch. dress or blouse I was rocking it. Especially PEARLS. If you know me you know I love my pearls. It just screams class across all fashion styles. I've been known to be well dressed however I never desired to be a stylist. I would often see my peers inspired and I always highly encouraged it but I knew what looked good to me that's where the buck stopped. I was even asked to model in college....it just wasn't my thing.
Fast forward a few years later shopping looked so different. Some stores no longer carried plus size clothing; only online. I was almost forced to shop there. After awhile it wasn't so bad...Amazon comes to my house almost weekly, smh. As I learned how to navigate size charts, differentiate fabrics and learn the overall fit of certain styles of clothing I found it crucial to leave reviews. When I'm shopping online one of the first things I do is look at reviews and the review pictures. I particularly look for someone close to my size and see how the items fits them before I add to cart. I know I'm not the only one so I make it my business to do so too. I also share my links!!!! I grew up where some girls, ladies, women would accept compliments but get amnesia when asked where they purchased something from...I hated it. So I make sure to send those links, give store names, etc.
Here are a few businesses that are Plus Size friendly especially for dresses:
-Target
-Clothes Mentor
-EShakti
-ThredUp
-Amazon
-Walmart
-Roamans
-Shein
-Asos
-Loud Bodies
-Torrid
-Lane Bryant & more...
It's three words I'm always looking for "PLUS SIZE APPROVED". That's my motto when items fits us perfectly. If you're Team Amazon Fashion I'm sure you'll see my reviews. I don't neglect the local thrift stores either its just hit or miss. Your best bet for plus size thrifting is Thredup.com. Thank me later!
Love & Light,
Alicia G.
